Why Genacross

One Source for Your Range of Needs

Genacross Lutheran Services improves people’s lives throughout all stages of life’s journey, serving many generations, and we are thoughtful in the ways we engage with people of different ages, backgrounds and faiths. Our services for seniors include affordable housing, independent living, assisted living, nursing care, complex medical care, memory support services, and more, but our most important offering to senior adults is respect for their dignity and worth as human beings. We also serve young people and their families by providing group homes; family counseling; individualized behavioral healthcare; and other programs that foster hope, healing and growth. All of our services are inspired by faith … in our clients, in the Genacross team and in Christ.

LEARN HOW WE CAN HELP

160 Years of Fulfilling Lives

Our roots date back to August 1860 when Pastor Johannes Doerfler and his wife took two orphans into their home. Pastor Doerfler was inspired to start a ministry of caring for orphaned children. By the turn of the century, the Lutheran Orphans’ Home was also caring for the elderly and, in 1906, the ministry officially expanded with the opening of an “Old Folks’ Home” nearby. The organization has continued to expand for more than 160 years, serving generations throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. Genacross Lutheran Services continues to lead the way by staying in step with the changing needs of our residents, patients and families. Our deep experience and expertise empower us to help fulfill the lives of those we touch — all while honoring Christian principles that will always be our guiding light.
