Bethany Place senior community, a Lutheran Homes Society (LHS) ministry located at 916 North Street in Fremont, Ohio, now offers assisted living apartments, in addition to its independent living senior apartments. An Assisted Living Open House and Ice Cream Social will be held from 1:30-4 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2014.
This conversion of existing apartments extends the continuum of care that LHS provides at its Fremont location, allowing residents to receive access to around-the-clock nursing care and help with activities of daily living, such as bathing, eating, and dressing. A dozen apartments have been licensed by the Ohio Department of Health as a residential care facility to provide assisted living services. The assisted living is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by nurses and aides from the Visiting Nurse Association of Mid-Ohio.
According to Amanda Schroeder, the LHS Executive Director in charge of the assisted living expansion at Bethany Place, “When LHS management started reviewing the reasons residents were moving out, the majority had growing medical needs and needed the services of an assisted living facility and the reassurance of staff available 24/7.”
“LHS also noted the growing median age of current Bethany Place residents and wanted to enable them to age in place in the environment they were already comfortable in,” she added. “Considering Bethany Place is congregate care and already provides dietary, laundry and housekeeping services, LHS concluded it made sense to renovate existing units and get them licensed as assisted living.”
